10 Fun Memory-Filled Christmas Projects for Kids; Canvas Paintings that are Simple

Are you ready for your newest Christmas decor?

I get so excited each time I pull out the year before Christmas project. It is so fun looking at all their hand and foot prints to see how much they have grown! It is the best way to capture beautiful memories.

1. Classic Kid’s Picture with a Santa Beard

First, you want to capture a beautiful smile to print! Then grab a canvas, some hot glue, cotton balls, and red paper, and start decorating! Have your littles play around in the background by adding glitter glue details. If they are old enough for scissors, get them to practice their skills by trimming their own Christmas hats!

2. Christmas Trees Paint Project for Babies to Create

On your canvas, outline a tree with green paint, add a few color dots, a yellow dot for a star, and brown for a stump. Place inside a gallon ziplock bag. Give it to your baby to play around with. Carefully take out the canvas from the bag and enjoy your new favorite Christmas decoration!

3. Holiday Truck Ornament for Kids

4. Snowman Footprint Art Project for Kids

On your canvas, place your child’s painted foot. When this dries, add the Snowman details, and decorate the background however you please! Don’t forget to hang it where everyone can see!

5. Painted Grinch Face for a Baby to Create

Squirt green paint and red paint onto a canvas and put inside a plastic bag. Let your baby play around smashing the colors, creating what appears to be a head shape and Santa hat. When dried draw your best looking Grinch face and glue cotton balls on the Santa hat. Give as a gift to a Grinch-loving family member!

6. Rudolph Handprint Art for Kids

Use a brown painted hand for the image of Rudolph! Glue google-eyes, a red puff-ball nose, and if you want a little Holly-berry.

7. Mistletoes Painting- Child’s Footprint Project

Paint your child’s foot green and place onto a canvas. Draw a Holly-berry and leaf. Write “Mistletoes” and the year. This is a great one for those really tiny babies. Super simple, but super cute!

8. Christmas Tree Handprint with Fingerprint Lights

Paint your child’s handprint green, and place onto canvas. When it dries, let them finger-paint the bulbs.

9. Melted Snowman Kids Project

Cut construction paper to size of your canvas. Let your little one paint a white splotch onto their canvas. When it dries let them glue a scarf, googly-eyes, buttons, a nose, stick-arms, and a hat.

10. Kids Handprint Winter Birds on a Branch

Glue construction paper onto a canvas. Paint your little ones hand the color of the bird you would like. Make sure thumb is on top as that will be the feathers on the birds head. Paint or draw a tree branch under the bird, beak on the palm of the hands, a wing, and add a googly-eye. Drawing bird legs is optional. Add some snow to the branches.

BONUS PROJECT:

Use Crayola Air-dry Clay to capture a handprint ornament.

Get a chunk of the clay out of the bin and roll into a ball. Gently rolled it out to a thick layer. Let your little press their hand into as hard as they can. Use a pencil or something small to poke a hole where you want the ornament to hang.

Let it dry for 2-3 days before touching. Depending on the thickness, it may need to set longer.

You can paint or leave as is. Add your string.
